Ash Bark-Fraxinus americana

Ash is the key to healing the loneliness of the human spirit, forming a link between the gods, humans, and the dead in the spirit world. Ash holds the key to Universal Truth and Cosmic Wisdom, and it takes on the important role as a Tree of Initiation.

Boneset-Eupatorium Perfoliatum

Indian sage, feverwort, sweating plant, teasel, wood boneset

Called "boneset" because it was used to treat breakbone (dengue) fever in the South and the bone ache of the flu in many locales, this magic herb is typically considered to be ruled by Saturn, who is in charge of bones.

It wards of demons of disease and can be used for inner cleansing and protection.  In cleansing a sick room, it can be sprinkled on the floor and swept out of the front door.

Boneset Ghost Spell from Judika Illes "The Element Encyclopedia of 5000 Spells: The Ultimate Reference Book for the Magical Arts"

Boneset guides ghosts elsewhere, attracting protective, benevolent spirits instead. Boneset may also be used to protect people and animals from "ghost sickness," the illness that some believe may emerge after extended contact with the dead.

The most potent boneset is found growing on or near graves. Supplement it with white pine for added enhancement.

Hang fresh boneset branches over doorways, or burn young boneset branches and twigs within a cauldron to drive away existing ghosts.

To top it all off, Dandelions are a whole food and are one of the most complete foods on the planet. All of the vitamins you need are conveniently harbored in this one single plant. A dandelion contains sixty-four nutrients and contain more potassium than bananas, more beta-carotene than carrots, more lecithin than soybeans and more iron than spinach. They are also loaded with phosphorus magnesium,  calcium, thiamine riboflavin, vitamin C, E and zinc.

Finally one ancient and long-standing use of a dandelion is as a natural clock!   The flowers almost always open right at five am and then always close at 8 pm at night.
